BACK TO SCHOOL EVENT

“It’s hard to believe July has begun and that school is over for another year.  However at West Island Mission, as soon as school is out, the planning begins for our annual Back to School event.  This year our Back to School distribution will be taking place on August 11th.  In order for this event to be a success, we need your help in several areas.

We have 220 families enrolled with 465 school aged children who will be receiving backpacks and school supplies. These numbers are up significantly from last year.  Once again, we’re promoting our “Sponsor a Backpack” program and are looking to the community for help in raising the necessary funds to cover the cost.  

For $20, which is the average cost of the backpack filled with basic school supplies, you can provide a backpack to one of the students registered to receive this year.  Larger donations can also be made to help provide for additional backpacks (i.e. a $60 donation will cover the cost of 3 backpacks). If you or anyone you know is interested in contributing in this way, donations can be made on our website: www.wimmoi.org, or by mailing a check to:
