Our Vision

Our Mission:

To be a community pursuing the restoration of all people and all things through a living relationship with Jesus Christ.

God desires to reconcile all people to himself and restore all creation through the death and resurrection of his Son Jesus Christ.  Submitting to Jesus as Lord, in a living dynamic relationship, we seek to love God with all our being and love our neighbour as ourselves.

I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.   John 10:10b

Our Values:

1.  Spirit-Led

We seek direction, discernment and empowerment from the Holy Spirit in order to worship, glorify and serve God.

Our direction, wisdom and empowerment come from the Holy Spirit as we listen with humility to God’s voice. We use our spiritual gifts to serve others and desire to see the fruit of the Spirit in each person.

Not by might nor by power, but by my Spirit, says the Lord of Hosts.
Zechariah 4:6

All that belongs to the Father is mine. That is why I said the Spirit will receive from me what he will make known to you.   John 16:15

2.  Moved by Grace

We receive God’s grace and respond by extending grace to one another.

Life is messy but God doesn’t give up on us. We desire to be so marked by God’s grace that it defines and transforms our relationships with each other, our community and the world around us.

The LORD is gracious and righteous; our God is full of compassion.   Psalm 116:5
Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.   Ephesians 4:32

3.  A Place for Everyone

We are all made in the image of God

and recognize the dignity of every human being.

God loves everyone and we love each other in our struggles and our joys.

Let’s walk together as we learn to follow Jesus.
Everyone has a place to serve and grow at Westview.

So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.   Genesis 1:27

There is no longer Jew or Gentile, slave or free, male and female. For you are all one in Christ Jesus.   Galatians 3:28

4.  Relational

We love each other and do life together.

God invites us into a loving relationship with himself and with those around us.

As we grow closer to God and one another,

the community flourishes through hospitality, discipleship, and service.

A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another.   John 13:34

Spur on one another to good deeds, meeting together, encouraging one another.   Hebrews 10: 24-25

5.  Rooted in the Word

God’s Word is authoritative, alive and dynamic, it renews and nourishes us.

God reveals himself through his authoritative Word.
It is a living Word that feeds and guides us, that changes and transforms us.
It instructs us and equips us to live godly lives.

All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right. God uses it to prepare and equip his people to do every good work.   Timothy 3:16,17

In the beginning the Word already existed. The Word was with God, and the Word was God.    John 1:1

Our Strategic Focuses:

1.  Disciple-Making

Equipping all to grow in faith and become more Christ-like

We are called to be discipled and to make disciples, being accountable to each other in love. Through doing life together, teaching, and studying God’s Word,

we desire to become more Christ-like both individually and communally in order to serve those around us.

Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts.  Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.

Deuteronomy 6:5-7

Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.   Matthew 28:19-20

2.  Community Engagement

Loving and serving others to bring Christ's restoration and healing to all.

We live out our faith by loving and serving others in the wider community. We seek to identify the needs around us and bring healing, restoration and justice to all through Christ. God calls us to bring peace and well-being to our city.

O people, the LORD has told you what is good, and this is what he requires of you: to do what is right, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God.
Micah 6:8

And he has given us this command: Anyone who loves God must also love their brother and sister.   1 John 4:21

3.  Multi-Cultural

We embrace and celebrate a rich cultural diversity that reflects God’s kingdom.

We value and celebrate the strengths of our rich diversity. We have much to learn from one another and desire to fully integrate all cultures as we grow and serve together.

All the nations you made will come and bow before you, Lord; they will praise your holy name.   Psalms 86:9

Who will not fear you, Lord, and glorify your name? For you alone are holy. All nations will come and worship before you, for your righteous deeds have been revealed."   Revelation 15:4 (NIV)

4.  Children

Growing our children’s ministry to reach hearts and lives in our wider community.

We believe that we can reach many hearts and lives in our community and the world around us through our children’s ministry. We desire to see children thrive through focused efforts including intergenerational mentoring and partnering with community organizations.

I will teach you hidden lessons from our past - stories we have heard and known, stories our ancestors handed down to us. We will not hide these truths from our children; we will tell the next generation about the glorious deeds of the Lord, about his power and his mighty wonders.   Psalm 78:2,3

But Jesus said, "Let the children come to me. Don't stop them! For the Kingdom of Heaven belongs to those who are like these children."
   Matthew 19:14
